Yoga Wrap, Vogue Winter, 2005/2006
I was completely sidetracked by THE YOGA WRAP during the Olympics. I have finished it. It was not without perplexities for me. I have to admit, I haven't worked on my MLC-KAL,(Geese in case everyone has forgotten). I have resumed work on the Northwest Sunset Vest. This is the Sweaters from Camp Knit a Long project that is in the previous post.
I couldn't wait for my BFL from New York to arrive and so I did mine in Noro Kochoran. It is 50% wool, 30% Angora and 20% silk. The angora makes the wrap look like a soft fog has settled on the wool. GORGEOUS yarn. I used 9 hanks.
When it was finished, I was disappointed in the Yoga wrap ON ME. Damn it, Vogue didn't mention the model is 6 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds soaking wet! The tails of the rectangle drug on the ground!
I had to pick out 2 complete repeats of the cast on edge. A PITA! The cast off edge, was easy. I just re-knit the purl rows and added 1 for good measure.
I changed the sleeve treatment. I PU 108 stitches and knit the sleeve in the round. I stitches every 4Th row, ending on the the sleeve at the cuff with 38 stitches on the first 2 rows. The sleeve is 19 1/2" long, unblocked.
I thought I was much too short, (5'2 1/2" tall), to carry off this creation. However, the yarn was so spendy, I had to wear it. Trust me, it took real courage for me to put this rectangle with sleeves on this morning, and actually wear it to town.
Much to my shock, everywhere I went, people wanted to touch it!... An elderly man inquired what sort of 'material' it was. His wife, sitting beside him, didn't speak but merely glared at me! Obviously, a non-knitter.
It does look look like a New York! Not quite right for a hick town in Oregon. If I am short, matronly but eye-catching model it the Yoga, anyone can wear this, if they have the courage.
