What a sweetheart! My brother and his family had a longhaired GS she was one of the gentlest dogs I have ever met. She too had hip problems :-( even after two hip replacements she only made it to 9, so I think you have made the right decision. There would be no point in causing him more discomfort than necesarry. We found that cod liver oil capsules helped with all our elderly dogs. I hope you have him for a good while yet :-)

Hi Junie- Oh, Vader is a most handsome fella. Any GS's I've known have indeed been gentle and loveable- but they do like to take care of their territory.
So cute with his little toys!

Jewel

Aww... look at Vader and his toys. Glad to see the Plutos are getting a good gnawing on, too! He's a sweetie, indeed!!

Hi Junie,

We have an 9 year old dog with diabetes and a fixed knee - I feel your pain, really. He looks like a great gentleman and I hope he doesn't suffer much.

Thanks for sharing Vader. What a handsome guy he is. Joe says I still park in the shade for Teddy, my shephard who has been gone for 20 years now. We are so lucky to share our lives with these special friends.

Aaaaw. He looks like a sweet puppy dog. Healing juju to Vader. :)

I was going to write about your great vest...and then I saw Vader. What a baby! I just lost my companion of 12 years this summer...heart broken still. I gave up my other blog (just-knit.blogger.com) after I wrote about his passing. We just got a new pup...what was I thinking? I have been so used to my geriatric dogs...this is a new wonder.
Dogs and knitting! my 2 favs!

Lovely to have an update on Vader. A handsome, loving dog, in the best of hands. Wishing you both good health!
